Interview: Photographer Luca Di Noia (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m Luca Di Noia, Italian photographer, eager observer, in love with images

How and when did you get into photography?

In my family photography was always presents, first my father and then my brother. In 2008 I got my first reflex, from that moment a new world started for me.

What does photography mean to you?

Attraction, epic moments, the freedom to express myself, lust and adrenaline.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

At the beginning I approached photography drawn by colours, life and happiness. In recent years, however, black and white, uneasiness, erotism and melancholy are shaping my photography.

Where do you get inspiration from?

From the masters ( Newton, Lindbergh, McCurry, Salgado, Scianna, Nachtwey ), from music videos, Japanese manga, from Guido Crepax.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?

A sort of plan must already be in my head before I shoot: location, mood, outfit, music, everything must fit.

Studio, on location or both?

It depends, but I prefer to look for locations than can “accommodate” my photographic projects.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

It was born like a hobby, now has turned into a job.

What has been your most memorable session and why?

The next one. If I accept a photographic project my commitment and my dedication will always be on the top, every project can be memorable.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens

Nikon and only fixed lens.

What is on piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Time, and dedication. To achieve results you must keep on studying and devote a lot of time, and learn how to observe, people, objects and situations.
