Interview: Photographer Ilan Bar (Israel)
Can you tell us a little about you?
I am a passionate photographer from the Tel Aviv area, I shoot mainly from my well-equipped home studio. I usually shoot portraits and fashion of various genres
How and when did you get into photography?
Until about 15 years ago my pursuits were far from photography even though I was always attracted to the subject, The turning point occurred after I took a portrait of my wonderful daughter that amazed me, since then I am constantly learning from my mistakes.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography enriches my spirit compared to the physicality of my other occupations.
Photography fills my world and the encounters with characters I would not have met otherwise are fascinating.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I usually shoot concept portraits and fashion of different genres.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I get inspiration from different artists, movies and also from the talented photographers in this wonderful magazine.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Sometimes I plan and prepare a board and sometimes I plan and improvise depending on the situation.
Studio, on location or both? Mainly in the studio and sometimes on location.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? An hobbyist with the spark of a professional.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Canon 85, 70-200, 24-105 lenses.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Learn! Take pictures every day, upload pictures to receive criticism, even if it's negative sometimes, don't break, create consistency and try to differentiate yourself to be special.
