Interview: Photographer Elżbieta Frynas (Poland)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Elżbieta Frynas, I work as an IT teacher in a high school in Cracow. Photography is my deep passion, discovering the world, people and inspiring people.
At the beginning, I photographed landscapes, got up at night and rode to the mountains to greet the day at sunrise and capture one unique moment. I have been dealing with portraits for 3 years. I love playing with light and composition during sessions, trying to discover its uniqueness in each photographed form, see emotions and what others cannot see, capture the passing moments in photography.
I love photography because it brings me meetings with people and their stories. I myself am an open, sensitive, spontaneous and cheerful person. I love animals, I have 3 cats at home that I love very much. I am happy when friends ask me for photos and many of my works decorate their apartments
How and when did you get into photography
Even as a child, I liked to look at family photos and albums with photos of the mountainsand landscapes. I bought my first camera only when I started working and it was the compact Olimpus, then the Nikon D70 and I stayed faithful to the Nikon company, currently I am shooting with the Nikon Z 6.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography is my hobby, my way to spend time creatively and beautifully, as well as being with people with similar interests, sharing experiences together. It is also an adventure that makes me happy and inspires.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I photograph portraits of people, I try to capture their emotions and fleeting moments, reflect the individuality of the characters, the uniqueness of the moment and stop time. I like to photograph Krakow and its magical places.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I draw inspiration from paintings: from paintings of different eras, graphics and films.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Before the session, I always have an idea, design, selected stylizations prepared, and I know what I would like to achieve. Often, when photographing new ideas comes to mind, then I improvise and together with the model we create something else.
Studio, on location or both?
I photograph in the studio and outdoors.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Photography is my hobby, passion and adventure.
What has been your most memorable session and why?
I most remembered the sessions in the mountains, at dawn, when the first rays of the sun illuminated the peaks and fog was rolling in the valleys. Nature was coming to life. I witnessed the true magic of nature.

Nikon Z6, Sigma Art. 85 1.4, Sigma Art 135 1.8 and Nikkor 105 1.4
