Interview: Photographer Anna Mirtova (Russia)

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Ann, I am a photographer. For 10 years I have been doing my favorite thing - photography. I like fashion, beauty, kindness, sincerity and generosity.

How and when did you get into photography?

I became a photographer in my student years at an engineering university. I was 20 years old and I wanted to be a free and independent photo artist and have not changed my desire for 10 years

What does photography mean to you?

Photography is a mirror that conveys true feelings, emotions and moods of both the model and the photographer himself. Photography is an eternal soul.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I shoot fashion and portraits. I like to catch emotions, work in a team of talented stylists and makeup artists. We like to create photo paintings

Where do you get inspiration from?

I like to draw inspiration from films, glossy magazines and Instagram

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture ?

First, I think through the image and mood of the photo in my head. Then we discuss the details with the team, think over the location, agree on the model and implement the conceived idea. Sometimes during the filming process we can change the concept, this is our creative process.

Studio, on location or both?

Both. It all depends on our idea

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Photography is my hobby that brings me money. I do what I love and it gives me many opportunities. What could be better? Do you agree?)))

What has been your most memorable session and why?

Most of all I remember the photo session in the quarry. There was a strong wind and cloudy weather. There were many of us: model, stylists, make-up artist, assistant, stylist. We were all warmly dressed, the model was in light clothes and she was very cold. But the shots are great.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

I shoot with Canon. Favorite 50mm and 24/70 lens.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Do not be afraid of anything, never give up, constantly think over ideas and bring them to life. Look for your style and don't try to imitate anyone.
