Interview: Photographer Anna Arte (France)
Can you tell us a little about you?
I'm a photographer, videographer and an artist based on the French Riviera, blending my Ukrainian roots with the beauty of the Mediterranean landscape in my work. I grew up as a creative child, drawing, sculpting, and doing all sorts of artistic activities. I adore traveling, drawing, cinema, and music.
How and when did you get into photography?
I started taking photography seriously at the age of 21 when I began traveling extensively, and I turned it into my profession when I moved to France, to Paris, in 2016.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography is my way of capturing and sharing the beauty I see in people and nature, preserving moments and emotions for eternity.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
I am primarily a portrait photographer. I adore capturing a diverse range of people and their emotions. Additionally, I am an artist who paints portraits. In painting, it's in black and white, while in photography, it's also about color, lots of color! I pay great attention to light and shadow.
Where do you get inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from people, their emotions and feelings. And of course, music, art, nature, and travel. Often, ideas for photoshoots stem from these sources.
Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?
Yes, I often visualize the composition and mood I want to convey before taking the shot, but I also embrace spontaneity. Sometimes inspiration comes when you least expect it. It's something from the outside. That's where improvisation is born. It's an incredible feeling!
Studio, on location, or both?
I enjoy the versatility of both - studio and on-location shoots, as each offers unique opportunities for creativity. Moreover, I have my own little photo studio where I conduct various photo experiments.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Once a hobby grew into a profession, and I'm very glad about it!
What has been your most memorable session and why?
I've had many interesting and memorable shoots, but the most impactful ones are when we incorporate drone photography! The results are stunning.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Canon forever :) and my favorites lens are 50mm f/1.8 & Canon 35mm f/1.8, depending on the task.
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
My advice would be to never stop learning, stay true to your unique style snd earn how to sell your services.
