Interview: Model Milena Pezzella (Italy)
Can you tell us a little about you?
I was born in Naples, to a French mother, where I lived until I was 26, then I moved to Milan. They say about me that I have southern passion and Parisian elegance. I graduated in economics but I chose to follow my passions: travel and photos and to make it a profession.
Stubborn, ambitious, sincere and sometimes a bit of an asshole but without a doubt a great friend! I'm romantic but not mushy. I prefer to trust people immediately (after my sixth sense) but if this is betrayed indifference arises. I have no grudge nor am I vindictive.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Nothing, I like myself like that !! I am extremely messy is definitely my worst fault but I would never change a characteristic of me. Surely I have to correct the ways of saying things. I am a direct person and I always say what he thinks with great sincerity but sometimes you have to filter the words because then you run the risk of passing as insensitive.
How did you start modelling?
I started posing as a young girl and it was love in the first shot! Then set aside for studies, business trips and a couple of years ago I started posing again because I feel good in front of the lens and because I am happy when I see interesting shots taken.
What do you think of the work as a model?
Whether you are a lawyer, a bartender or a model, it changes little. In life it takes passion in private life and in work. It also takes intelligence to build stability in the industry that allows you to lead a peaceful life.
What is your beauty regimen?
I love lifting weights in the gym, I like to eat healthy but I give in to dark chocolate and tiramisu! I prefer sweet to salty. I have very basic makeup and I don't make face masks but I love the spa.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
I'm not modest. I'm not touchy in fact I'm very self-deprecating. I don't know the characteristics of the others but if they compensate with mine, I feel lucky.
What are your plans for the future?
Definitely not another pandemic !! For me, the present exists. I like my life, I want to go back to travel and carry out my profession as a tour leader and always shoot with serious professionals. I'm not ready to think about children or family yet, I was thinking of getting a cat! Russian blue.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
The first that comes to mind is having posed in the natural light of dawn on the island of Spargi, Sardinia. But I already have a couple of photo projects in mind that I would like to do soon
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?
To study! The poses, the awareness of one's body, the expressions of one's face and approaching photography as fun mainly, without expecting anything but always pursuing a parallel and alternative path. Choose the photographers to shoot with, everyone has their own photographic expression and not necessarily everyone can enhance you, especially if you are at the beginning.
What do you think of the magazine?
First of all, thank you for giving me this opportunity! I think it's a great network to connect models and photographers who keep bringing out interesting sets and shots. Or for those new to the industry. It is important to keep up to date on news or to know the myths of all time. It is a magazine that is read in 160 countries around the world therefore it offers the possibility of having a global vision of how photography expresses itself in its different forms and can launch different messages.
