Interview: Model Ida Nielsen (Denmark)

Can you tell us a little about you?

Hi! I'm Ida Nielsen, 28 years old, with a background as an educated teacher, and I have been modeling since I was 19.

As a person, I'm a blend of two sides: one is feminine, where I love makeup, dresses, and heels, and the other is more rustic, as I enjoy camping and being out in nature. In my free time, I cherish spending time with family and friends and staying active, especially through sports.

I live life on my own terms and have a deep passion for exploring the world, challenging myself, and connecting with new people and cultures.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I’m learning to let go of perfectionism and overthinking. I’ve come to realize that my pursuit of perfection often prevents me from taking action. Giving things a chance by sharing, instead of overanalyzing them, I create opportunities for growth, unexpected rewards, and valuable feedback. Letting go of the need for perfection allows me to experiment and contribute more freely and authentically.

How did you start modelling?

How did I get startet? My modeling journey began in an unexpected way: in a supermarket. I was 19, out shopping, and after I paid for my groceries, a man approached me and offered me a paid modeling job for him. I had never done modeling before and had to think it over, but I decided to try it. It was a positive experience, and that journey has continued to grow, leading me to where I am today.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I’ve been doing it for years, and I absolutely love it. What I enjoy most about modeling is the creative freedom and the ability to express myself in many ways. It’s also a journey of self-discovery, where you learn about your own expressions and the messages you communicate. Communication isn’t just verbal - it’s visual too, which makes the work interesting and never boring, but it’s essential to stay true to yourself and respect your own boundaries.

What is your beauty regimen?

I believe that both inner and outer self-care are essential to maintaining true beauty. I focus on my mental and physical well-being by ensuring I get quality sleep, eat a balanced diet, exercise, self-reflection, and make time for activities I love. It’s all about balance.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I’m a bit of a wanderer. Having lived in over 20 different places in Denmark, I’ve come to realize that "home" isn’t a place, but the people around me. This, combined with my solo travels over the past few years, has helped me let go of the fear of stepping outside my comfort zone. I now see it as a challenge - one I embrace to grow and achieve my goals. With each success, I build my confidence and set new, even bigger goals. Many people tell me they wish they could do the same and admire my bravery. But I’ve learned that you have to sacrifice something to gain something else. My lifestyle, traveling solo as a woman and living in another country, isn’t something many would dare to do. People once told me it was a dream, something unrealistic, but now I’m living that dream and proving them wrong. That’s why my defining quote is: "She believed she could, so she did". It reflects my mindset and what motivates me.

What are your plans for the future?

I recently closed a chapter in my life, where I lived in safe Denmark with a great modeling job, family, and friends around me. Now, I’ve started a new chapter, living my dream by basing myself in Bali. My plan now is to explore new opportunities and grow both personally and professionally My plan now is to explore new opportunities and grow both personally and professionally. Besides my career, I also hope to meet my future dream partner and starting a family one day. My desire to keep experiencing new thing, exploring and growing is a big part of who I am and will always play a role in my future.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

One of my biggest achievements was participating in Miss Europe Continental last year. It was a career milestone, where I gained a lot of experience on stage and expanded my network. I met many incredible ladies from all over the world who shared this fantastic experience with.

My solo travels are also close to my heart – they’ve shaped me into the independent, passionate and confident woman I am today. Two of my greatest experiences from my travels include climbing Mount Ijen in Java and swimming with whale sharks in the Flores Sea.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?

First and foremost: believe in yourself, because self-belief is the key, and you have to be your own motivation. Start by building a portfolio, perhaps by investing in professional photos to create a strong foundation. Social media is a powerful tool, so post consistently, gain experience, and build your network. Before your first shoot, find out what styles and boundaries suit you; it’s okay to say no. And most importantly, relax and enjoy it - it also shows in the photos and contributes to great results.
