Interview: Model Alia Brhel (Czech/Slovakian)
Alia Brhel has graced exclusive covers of magazines and modeled for brands like Swarovski and Cartier. She is a leading international model working worlwide.
Can you tell us a little about you?
Hi, it is a pleasure. I work as an international fashion model for 10 years, I have modeled for brands like Gucci, Cartier, ELLE Germany, Swarovski, Woman Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Harpers' Bazaar, Marie Claire, VIVA and others. I started my career mainly working between Milan and Paris and later on moved to other markets as well. I have worked also in Barcelona-Spain, Athens-Greece, Dubai-UAE, Portugal, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Mauritius, Bali, and Istanbul-Turkey.
I have participated in many fashion shows, in Dubai Fashion Weeks and also walked shows in Ibiza, South Africa, Bali, Athens, Netherlands, Mauritius, Portugal...
How did you start modeling?
I have been scouted in Prague by a modeling agency. I have got a couple of really nice bookings very short after, I played a leading role in a couple of TV commercials and started to work also as a photo model.
What do you think of the work as a model?
I love my work and also I realize that it is really important for my clients. Designers often work couple of months on producing their new collection. When the day of shooting comes, it all comes down to the quality of the new photo/video campaign.
I also have a Master in Science in Marketing. Although I am not active in that field, I can relate to the branding and marketing process. I try to see the process behind the doors of the studio, if you know what I mean... I understand that my role is critical to my clients.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
I really liked the shooting of the cover and editorial for WOMAN magazine shot by Pedro Ferreira in Ritz Carlton hotel in Lisbon. I really enjoyed walking show for The Emperor 1688, where I was wearing a one of kind flower dress, the only one in the show. The fresh flowers were sewed on the dress just before the show, and as I was walking, the petals of flowers were falling down the catwalk. I also enjoyed the leading role in a commercial video for Swarovski, shot in Dubai. I really liked walking show for amazing designer Amato in 2018 in Dubai Design District. Certainly also working on shootings with Cartier and Gucci for an advertorial. And Mall of Emirates campaign, when the photos we shot in were hanging inside my favorite mall.
What do you think of the magazine?
I wish we have more amazing magazine like yours. And thank you very much for having me.
