Interview: Photographer Vladi Arti (Ukraine)

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Vladi Arti, I am art photographer. The peculiarity of my work lies in their similarity to the painting, it is emphasized by a special color correction. Basically, I photograph nude human nature. I believe that the human body is beautiful. Therefore, I try to convey this beauty in photography.

How and when did you get into photography? My first camera fell into my hands more than 30 years ago. Nevertheless, I have been doing digital color photography for less than 2 years.

What does photography mean to you?

For me, photography is a special kind of art that allows you to convey my vision to the viewer.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I do art photography. Mostly nude art photography. What does it mean? This means that a naked body is only an object of photography. It is not a sexual symbol. I am only interested in its form and beauty in space or in combination with surrounding objects. Also of great importance is the combination of colors that give the photograph the appearance of an artistic canvas.

Where do you get inspiration from? I really like the works of fine art of the Renaissance. Therefore, often my paintings combine the spirit of the works of that time and the modern vision of the forms of the human body.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?

In my work I combine planning and impromptu. Sometimes I get ready to shoot for a long time, but when it comes time to take pictures, I change plans for something new. What was born in the head right on the set.

Studio, on location or both?

I prefer to shoot in the studio. There are several reasons for this. As I said, I like the paintings of the Renaissance. As a rule, the model is in a dark room and light from the window falls on it. Such an atmosphere can be created in the studio. However, I also shoot in the fresh air. But here the photos have a completely different atmosphere. It is more airy and the pictures are more spatial.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Do I consider myself a professional? I find it difficult to answer this question. Now photography takes up most of my life. And from a hobby turned into something much more.

What has been your most memorable session and why?

The first art nude photo shoot left a vivid impression. I was worried that the pictures would turn out so-so and my model would be unhappy. However, everything went as well as possible. And some of the pictures created then are still popular. In general, a nude photo shoot is a very important event. You can’t just photograph a naked woman. It will be vulgar and ugly. It is necessary to clearly understand what to do in order for the picture to show the beauty of the body without vulgarity.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

I shoot on a Nikon 35mm lens. But the main thing is not the camera and not the lens, but the one who is behind the camera. The camera and lens are just tools with which the photographer realizes the ideas that are born in his head.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Be patient, study various photography information and practice a lot.

What do you think of our new magazine?

There are many talented photographers in the world that the world has not heard of and probably never will. This magazine gives you the opportunity to be noticed and apply your talent for the intended purpose. I like that idea.
