Interview: Make-up artist Eleonora Tomasini (Italy)
Can you tell us a little about you?
I'm a Makeup artist and Hairstylist especially for the fashion sistem. I have worked for many international brands like Max Mara, Nike, Dolce&Gabbana, Pirelli, Milano Fashion Week and many more. I studied at IIAM Academy makeup in Bologna, at Cassie Lomas makeup Academy in Manchester and at London hair Academy in London. I work above all in North of Italy, in Milan or in Reggio Emila, and sometimes abroad. I teached at Blink Make school in Modena and at Fashion Avenue Academy in Milan. And now I'm the creative Makeup Artist for the Kargi Cosmetics brand. Every day I make a different makeup and hairstyle for a different and international model for ecommerce shoot, lookbook, advertising fashion campaign and social campaigns.
How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start?
I have been a makeup artist from 7 years. The first year I attended the makeup artist academy in Bologna and in the same time I worked in Sephora like a beauty specialist. in Sephora fastly I grew up my career and I quickly became a makeup artist for the brand Benefit. After a few time I had the opportunity for change: a film, my first film and the begining of my freelancer career.
What are some of your makeup products that you use?
I love Pro longwear waterproof foundation by Mac Cosmetics for a perfect skin or Light Wonder foundation by Charlotte Tilbury for a glow and natural skin effect, especially for catwalk. Another gorgeous products that I use for every shooting is Embryolisse Moisturizer Cream for a radiant and healthy skin.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
From nature, from past, from abstract concepts or from anything around me
Who have you worked for and who would you like to work for in the future?
For the cinema I had the honor of working with Giorgio Diritti, important director for the Italian reality films. In the fashion world I worked with important and international photographers like Kevin Tachman, Karl Collins, Hannah Furness, Riccardo Dubitante and with my friends Francesca Terenziani and Enrico Pignatti. In the future I would like working for international makeup brands or for international production film.
Any makeup tips you'd like to share with us?
Oh yes, we are in summer, my favourite season, so I recommend to use light foundation and before of this a soft face cream and many cream products, for example blush or bronzer, to have a natural and fresh effect.. a beach effect.
If you were not a makeup artist, what would be your dream job?
Ummm... I think that now for me is impossible to tell you a possible alternative job because I have always decided with my instinct..without reason or plan.
What are three things every girl needs in her makeup bag?
Absolutly red lipstick, mascara and powder for all situations
What are common mistakes you see women make on their makeup?
Often women use too much foundation or bronzer or too much makeup in general. In this case their beauty is covered not valued.
What do you think of the magazine?
I love Modellenland magazine because it combines a concept of fashion and art at 360 degrees, hight quality and professionality.
