Interview: Photographer Amelie Munic (Germany)

Can you tell us a little about you?

Hey :-) My name is Amelie Munic and I am from germany. When I was 7 years old, I started working as a model. When I Was 16, I moved to the dark side and became a photographer.

How and when did you get into photography?

I was working on a photography workshop and in our breaks the photographers and models sat together. The models were talking bout makeup and fashion and it was superboring, so i tried to understand what the photographers were talking about. They spoke about camera systems and lenses and that seemed so interesting. So I thought it might be awesome having the knowledge of cameras and light, too. So i started to learn camerastuff and took my first pictures. And it was pretty awesome!

What does photography mean to you?

Well. With my Art I am trying to change the world. Not into something better, more in just my world. And beauty means something completly different there. And I show ppl different points of view.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

Darkart maybe? Or crazy shit? I dont know.

Where do you get inspiration from?

My mind. My music. I might be crazy.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture?

Yeah. I am planning my projects for month. I start thinking about what i want to say, about outfits, makeup, locations. I also build my own stages, accessoires. Everything is made by me and it's exactly how it is in my mind then.

Studio, on location or both?

Well, i like both. But most times i am working in my studio.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

Nothing of that. I am an artist. That's it.

What has been your most memorable session and why?

Every shooting i have is my “most memorable session”. It's always different and so much fun.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Nothing of that. Camera Systems mean nothing. Also lenses. A good photographer is able to make awesome pics with a cheap 10 € camera.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Never lie to yourself. Think different. Don't be an asshole. Karma knows you.

What do you think of our new magazine?

I think this magazine gives great opportunity to all kind of artist.
