Interview: Model Delfina Def (Romania)
Can you tell us a little about you?
Hello, my name is Delfina but my friends call me Def , I’m 22 years old and I currently live in Bucharest, Romania. I’ve started my modelling career 6 months ago and I’ve face an impressive ascension working with professional models and photographers from Romania and abroad.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
I would the fact that sometimes I’m too empathic and I take peoples problems onto my own shoulders and this pins me down from time to time, affecting my emotional state.
How did you start modelling?
I’ve started my modelling career after I’ve been contacted by one of the best Romanian photographers and after two and a half years I’ve decided to give it a try and we’ve had a blast on my first nude photo session, I’ve never stopped since.
What do you think of the work as a model?
Even though from the outside it seems such an easy job, it’s a highly demanding environment where you can only be professional, serious in order to produce high quality content for the different brands and personal projects you’re working on. It takes both physical and mental effort to be a model. I would’ve never been here without all the support received from my friends, family and the wonderful people I worked with.
What is your beauty regimen?
I think that I’m really lucky with a really good metabolism and I can eat anything I can imagine at any given time of the day, which makes for some real fun memories while eating junk food in the middle of the night. I’ve never done anything special in regards of my looks, besides the usual. In my free time I like to play volley, tennis or even go for a swim once in a while.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
The first thing that comes to my mind would be the ink in my skin, I have a couple of tattoos which I wear with pride and I feel that they make up for a really impressive part of who and what have I become in the past years. Even though it’s not so uncommon I feel that my body is quite atypical as I am skinny with a rather nice figure. However what really differentiates me is that even though I have a rather dark and gothic look because of my tattoos I can be playful and joyful in order to make a project or an idea work out.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to take this as far as I can until I still have the chance to do so, before the time leaves its mark. Afterwards I want to be the person behind the viewfinder as I feel that nothing would make a better photographer than someone who really knows how a model feels and also understands the different frustrations and needs of the person who’s in front of the lens.
What are some of your favourite experiences so far?
My favourite experience was hands down my first nude shooting with Gabi Gogiu and his wife, Alice. As it was one of the most intense and suspenseful shootings I’ve ever taken part in until now.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?
I can only recommend people to have a lot of confidence and don’t let yourself beaten up whenever they’re facing a refuse. Even if it’s not easy work never forget to have fun and enjoy themselves.
What do you think of the magazine?
I really love that there’s someone working with lowkey artists, promoting them and really helping people understand the people behind the pictures they see and enjoy so much. Understanding that behind wonderful shots, there’s a lot of work involved and a bunch of creativity.
