Interview: Model Zarah Vestergaard (Denmark)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Zarah Vestergaard; I am 24 years old and live in Denmark. I am in the process of training as a sales assistant. I love spending my free time painting and drawing. In addition to being a bit of a nerd who plays role-play and has been a scout, pretty much all my life, so I enjoy life in the woods.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
I am reasonably happy with myself, the only thing I would probably change is my eternal struggle to become tan it just cannot succeed.
How did you start modeling?
Almost 4 years ago I went to art college and a friend asked me if I would help her with a project I should just model for her so of course I said yes. After the project, I got the picture, became quite happy with it, and chose to put it on my Instagram and Facebook, where some individual photographers showed interest in my appearance, and could use me as a TFP model.
The last years I have worked as a freelance model, and I really like it.
What do you think of the work as a model?
I think model work is hard, but very exciting! How small things can make such a big difference in pictures, you need to practice and practice so that you can hit the right face and pose correctly.
I am sorry, of course, that I do not fit into the demands of the model agencies, it would be good experience to try, but then I must try to create that experience by myself, and meet new interesting people that way.
What is your beauty regimen?
My strong side is definitely my freckles, though I hated them all my childhood, they just became more and more charming. Many photographers see them as small works of art in their own right and therefore they are very different to work with.
The freckles make me unique, no one has my freckles, and they sit just the way they want.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
I am very creative with soul; therefore, often I come up with ideas for photoshoots, thinking this could look cool - this we have to make. I do not want to be like so many others and just take off my clothes to get attention for my pictures; they must be cool, eye-catching and different by themselves.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to keep being a model all my life, if people want to take pictures of me. I do not expect to be able to make a living of working as a model only, but it would be nice to have it as a part of my working life. It would be exciting to work with some companies, and of course get some more paid jobs.
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Do not be afraid to think out of the box, everyone can be a selfie model, but it takes some work to get people to see you as a real model.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
My best experience was a photoshoot in the home of some friends; they have snakes as pets. For quite some time I had the idea it might be amazing to try taking pictures together with animals. Hair and make-up was put on beautifully by a make-up artist, and I got this giant king python named Arthur on the neck. Together with Arthur I just started to do the model job, it was something completely different, all the time we had to focus on the snake and me at the same time – but it became the wildest pictures ever.
What do you think of the magazine?
Fantastic there is a magazine that gives the "small one" an opportunity to feel like something great. I will always remember the day I got into a magazine first time, and thank the Modelland for the opportunity they gave me. It really gives everyone the opportunity to show what he or she can do.
