Interview: Model Laura Manzan (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I am Laura Manzan, I am 20 years old. I am Italian and I live with my family near Pordenone. I am studying foreign languages in Venice at the university “Ca’ Foscari”. My passions are animals and makeup. In my free time I love reading books, hanging out with friends and watching makeup tutorials. I am available as a model for fashion shows and shootings. I also work as hostess and promoter.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

If I could change anything about myself, I would change my impatience and sometimes my sensitivity.

How did you start modeling?

I started modelling because a photographer (Daniele Delcastagnè) noticed me after that I published some photos of some beauty pageants that I had taken part to. After him, more and more photographer asked me to shoot, and participating to other beauty pageants I also had the opportunity of modelling in fashion shows.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I think that working as a model is awesome because it makes you feel confident and everyday you have a new challenge; every shooting or fashion show is different so you never get bored.

What is your beauty regimen?

I take care of my skin a lot, making sure that is always well hydrated and clean. I have naturally straight hair so I just apply a mask after my shampoo. Studying in Venice I walk a lot, so I workout only two times per week at home. I try to eat as clean as possible but I do not deprive myself of anything.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

There are a lot of awesome models out there so I do not like to say that I have something more than them. I think that being concentrated, humble and professional helps me a lot in what I do.

What are your plans for the future?

I hope that in the future modelling will be my full-time job, so I want to keep being concentrated in what I do and to take part to more and more important projects.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

Some of my favourite experience so far are the fashion show “Fashion at IUAV 2019”, when I had the opportunity to wear the creations of the grad students. The fashion show was also live streamed on Vouge Italy. Others experiences are: the soothing with Gianmatteo Smiderle, who taught me a lot and was a unique experience (we shoot in an airport), the workshop organized by Demis Albertacci, when we shoot in an ancient villa in Trieste, and the two shootings with Marco Squassina one in Venice and the other one in the woods.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?

The advice that I have for the ones who wants to start modelling are that they should not give up if they are not appreciated right away, because if they think they are worth it sooner or later there will be somebody who appreciates them. Moreover, always be humble and see the ones who are already models as someone to look up to, not as someone to be jealous of.
