Interview: Photographer Massimiliano Mancini (Italy)

Can you tell us a little about you?

I’m Massimiliano Mancini and I’m an Italian amateur photographer based in Rome -

Italy.

How and when did you get into photography?

My passion for photography started 6 years ago when I bought my first Nikon reflex. My passion increased year by year and my main focus was the street photography. Only in the last year (more or less) I'm becoming fully dedicated to portrait photography.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography for me it’s a passion. I like to have the possibility to create and

communicate something using the images.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

I love to shoot portraits in the street, mainly in urban contests. I love to try to capture

emotions and to tell stories using my images.

Where do you get inspiration from?

Nowadays, it's easy to access to every kind of contents produced by other photographers (professional or not). Internet it's a great source of inspiration. I always try to learn something from the others and trying to increase the quality of my work and improve my own style.

Do you think in advance what you want in the picture ?

I've always a general idea of what I want as a final result in my mind. Anyway I think

that knowing how to improvise is very important.

Studio, on location or both?

Absolutely on location. I love to have the freedom to use the ambient as much as i can. To be honest, I think that studio photography is a little bit boring for me but, sooner or later, I'll try do to something also in studio. I promise

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

I’m an hobbyst that always try to do his best with passion and dedication.

has been your most memorable session and why?

The next one!

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

I'm a Sony user. My favorite lens is the 85mm F1.4 GM from Sony but recently I

discovered a true passion for the new 24mm F1.4 GM always from Sony. It’s not a

typical portrait lens but probably this is the main reason why I love it!

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

Passion and dedication are the key. Learn something new everytime and everywhere. Try to create your own style by letting yourself be inspired by the work of others.

Be humble, always.

What do you think of our new magazine?

It’s really interesting and it's great that give us the possibility to share our works in a very professional way.
