Interview: Photographer Piotr Krzyzanowski (Poland)
Can you tell us a little about you? My name is Piotr, I am 30 years old. Currently, I live in Wrocław, Poland.
I work in the heavy industry on a daily basis, but I devote each free moment to photos, graphics and photo retouching. I love photography because it allows me to relax and get to know a lot of interesting people.
How and when did you get into photography? I started photography at the age of 13, when I found a Zenith camera with a lens in a park on a bench. I spent the entire summer trying to figure out the handling of that camera. By way of trial and error, and a few rolls of film used, I took one good photo, which I kept in an album. Unfortunately, as a youngster, I preferred football to photography, so I parted with the camera for years. After 10 years, I decided to try again and from that moment I have not parted with photography.
What does photography mean to you? For me it is a habit and addiction, I love photos, the sound of a taken picture, contact with people and getting to know their history. At the moment, it is my greatest passion.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers. I love colors and naturalness. I always try to combine these two features together. I look at each picture separately and try to match the appropriate style in post-production.
Where do you get inspiration from? Usually, from photos, paintings and recently music videos viewed on the Internet. I also have two favorite photographers who I look at and I draw inspiration from them, without imitating their style. Think you in advance what you want in the picture? It depends, sometimes I determine the frames and inspirations, and the course of the photoshoot with the model.Sometimes, it's just going out to the city with a few sets of clothing and doing something cool.
Studio, on location or both? I love locations and the open air, they are more unpredictable and provide a lot of cool colors. I use the studio very rarely, only in the winter period.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional? Definitely a hobbyist.
What has been your most memorable session and why? I do not have one particularly memorable. I love the majority of my shoots where I met cool people full of passion for photography.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens? Nikon and Nikkor 85mm 1.4G
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business? Take pictures for yourself, do what makes you happy. Do not stick to the set rules that much. Browse photos and look for inspiration.
What do you think of our new magazine? I read it on a regular basis, I like the editing.
