Interview: Photographer Pawel Zajac (Poland)
Can you tell us a little about you?
Hm.. I am semi-pro photographer, it is only passion for me. I live in Poland, Krakow. Each day faithful with principle Repetitio Mater Studiorum Est, so when i'm holding camera i know that always more is behind me then before.
How and when did you get into photography?
It was always around me inside me. I took the first pictures as a teenager. These were, of course, ananalog shots.
What does photography mean to you?
For me photography its simple word which contains all the world. World painted with light, enchanted in numbers. Allows to create world as we see him our eyes. Before accidentally, now with premeditation.
Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
It's difficult because I try not to close in certain styles, I constantly try something new, set new boundaries that I try to cross. The most important seems to create something with sense, idea, and conception. I dont create for the very process of creating but a to arouse emotion and stimulate thinking. At the same time, I try to improve in portrait, act, nude, sensual.
Where do you get inspiration from?
I try not to inspire but to invent by myself. I try to follow ideas of stylists and models. I do not want to copy something, I want to create something completely from nothing.
Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
It depends. Sometimes if I am pressed by the model I deliver a mood board, knowing full well the session will most likely go in a completely different direction. Sometimes I choose a light setup or a dress as guideline, but I’d rather see the person in front of my camera and then decide. I like to be surprised and to surprise.
Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
Hobbyist, passion... money can destroy pleasure of creating I am happy to be free of money needs from photography.
Studio, on location or both?
Generally studio. I have my own.
Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Suprise, FUJI, medium format. 110 (86 in full frame).
What has been your most memorable session and why?
This is a very difficult question that I can not give an unambiguous answer. Each session is unique, with different memories associated with each. Similar to question which woman is the most beautiful. They are all beautiful in their own way.;)
What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
If it is their passion, I do not have to advise anything, everything will succeed because they have enough determination to do their job.
What do you think of our new magazine?
Just great, keep working, good job ??
