Interview: Photographer Fantastyczny Bartosz (Poland)

Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Bartek, I'm from Poland, Warsaw. Right now I work as a Lighting Artist in CD ProjektRed.

How and when did you get into photography? When I was 10 years old my mother gave me an old Smiena so I could take some pictures while on a trip to the park. But I was fully engaged in photography in highschool, 15 years ago.

What does photography mean to you?

It's my way to meet new people and to express myself. Also, it simply makes me happy. After every good picture I take I feel that in some way I'm complete.

Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.

My style depends on the situation and the model. When I take portraits of tattooed models, I like to make them more vibrant, but mostly I like nostalgic, low contrast photography based only on natural lighting. Also, last year I started to do some nude art using a drone.

Where do you get inspiration from? I try to search for inspiration everywhere. Movies, instagram, even music. My all-time favorite photographer is George Crewdson, his photography has always had an impact on me.

Think you in advance what you want in the picture?

99% of my pictures are improvised.

Studio, on location or both?

Neither, I'm a home photographer - and this is connected with the previous question, because I almost never know the flat that pictures will take place at, so I can't plan anything.

Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?

100 %Hobbyist

What has been your most memorable session and why?

First session with my wife, when she started her journey with photography. It's the most memorable, and most important because the person closest to my heart now understands why I'm taking pictures.

Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?

Canon, and I love my Sigma 50/1.4. Canon because this was my first SLR, Sigma because of price/quality, and I need a bright lens to work with natural light.

What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?

As I don't have my own business, I would rather avoid giving advice in that matter, but when it comes to photography in general, I would try to spend 15 minutes reading about it, looking for new inspirations and taking at least one picture a day.

What do you think of our new magazine?

It's full of inspirations from artists all around the world, also it's super cool that you promote photographers, models, make-up artists, and so on. I like it a lot.
