Interview: Model Kim Scofield (USA)
Can you tell us a little about you?
My name is Kim Scofield and I am 23 years old living in Charlotte North Carolina. I am origionally from Oneonta New York and moved down here about a year and a half ago. I am a full time waitress and a part time model, but trying to expand more into modeling to model full time. I am also big into fitness and compete in NPC Body Building Competitions for Bikini.
If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
One thing I would say is that I find it really hard for me to find personal motivation sometimes. With all I have done in my life this far everyone sees a motivated person, but in reality I find that I could be a lot more motivated personally.
How did you start modeling?
Growing up I was really big into art and drawing. Ive been drawing since the pre K. In High school my junior and senior year I went to BOCES for visual arts, which is another school my school was associated with for those who wanted to expand in different career aspects. I chose the Visual Arts class to be apart of, because I wanted to keep expanding my knowledge and creative thoughts through art. My senior year in the Visual Arts class I really got into Fashion Design and Modeling. I ended up gong to college at the State University of New York at Oneonta aand graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fashion Design and Textiles. My Junior and Senior year of college we would have these spring fashion shows and I really wanted to become apart of them. I took a wearable art class and our classes designs were put on the runway. I not only designed for the show, but ended up modeling for 4 other designers both years. After 4 years of college I realized I loved deisgning, but wasnt really into sewing or making the clothes, so I modeled. I started realizing that Modeling was one of my passions and was good at it. I have a really strong walk on the runway. Its hard for me to get into shows though because I am only 5’4” but I do picture tall. Another reason why I model is because growng up I was was buillied and had zero self esteem. I used to eat lunch in the bathroom stalls by myself. It took me years and years to get where I am today and I started to love myself more and more everyday. Everyone tells me “WOW you look great” or “Your doing awesome Kim,” and my response to them everytime is “Thank you, but I am not where I want to be yet.” With that said there is Always improvments to be made in ones life. I look to become a role model for not only my silblings, but for those kids who grow up being bullied and who have no self esteem. I didnt love myself as a kid it took me until this far in life to start to love who I am. My motivation for them would be “Dont let others tell you who you are, because in reality they dont know who they are. Keep your head high and dont let others words break you down. Be strong and dont care what others think of you. It is hard yes, but with time you will thank yourself.”
What do you think of the work as a model?
I LOVE it! The best part of modeling would be networking and meeting other models, photographers, makeup artisits and designers all over the world. I enjoy meeting new people, getting others opinions, and listening, seeing, and creating creative pictures with everyone. I am a diverse model and plan to keep my portfolio full of different types of work.
What is your beauty regimen?
To be honest I do not have a beauty regimen. For my face I use Predire Paris Body soap while in the shower and after I shower I use the Predire Paris moroccan liquid gold aromatic milk and honey body butter lotion. It is the ONLY regimen I have used that does not break out my skin. My skin breaks out very easily, so I try to stay away from skin care products and try healing my face naturally.
What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?
I am a very fast learner with everything that I do, I am a great listener, People come to me for questions and or advice, I am a very reliable person, a hard worker, Trustworthy, Good-natureed, mature, and responsible.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to get into some magazines, do more photoshoots with different photographers around the world and travel more, I am big into fitness so I plan to compete in more body building competitions. I would love to be able to do modeling full time, though I do love waitressing I do not want to do that my entire life. Also start a family would be nice as well.
What are some of your favorite experiences so far?
My favorite experiences so far would be being painted for a photoshoot, meeting new friends, because it is hard to meet new people moving to a different state and area. Being able to get creative for photoshoots and using eachothers creative minds to make some beautiful and fun art. Striping down outside for photoshoots, made me feel like a bad ass being outside naked. haha
Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling?
Practice posing in the mirror. 2. Get to know yourself and what you are willing and able to do. 3. Be comfortable in your own skin. 4. Do photoshoots when you can, because the more practice in front of the camera the better. You will start to learn your personal angels and best sides. 5. Network yourself and always ask other models advice and opinions on photographers before shooting with them.
What do you think of the magazine?
I LOVE the magazine. I love pictures and being able to view everyones work that they have done together. I also like how it is not just one type of look, that it is a little bit of everything. I like getting to know about the model as well, because you can see how different everyones life is and how we all come together having the same interests in modeling.
