Interview: Model Liv Kristine (Denmark)

Can you tell us a little about you? Hey! My name is Liv. I’m a 19 years old gender fluid model currently residing in Denmark. Modelling is my full time occupation, and I’m planning to travel around Europe in the upcoming year doing it. In my free time, I love visiting museums and studying history. I’m also a LARPer. My modelling is very much based on pushing the limits of what gender is and what it’s perceived as. Especially when doing nude photography like I do, people look at my pictures and are very confident that the person they’re viewing is a woman. But why can’t it be something else? I want to challenge how we put people into boxes, and break free of the “gender” box that society has put me into.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be? Probably my negative thought process - It sometimes stops me from actually doing what I want, because I have the feeling of not being good enough. It’s something I am working on, and I keep getting better at practicing self-love.

How did you start modeling? My friend posted a selfie of me in a photographer group as a joke - and I got several messages from photographers interested in shooting with me.

What do you think of the work as a model? I love it - What really fascinates me is being part of the process of creating art; being the “muse” and being able to develop art with something that I was born with - my body.

What is your beauty regimen?

I don’t really have one haha! I use moisturiser when needed - but luckily I’m blessed with very healthy skin. I sometimes use baby oil for my arms and legs in the winter months when they get drier than usual.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

I’m very good at stepping into the role of a character, meaning I’m not afraid of trying out new expressions and poses in my modelling. When I get a good feel of what mood the photographer wants, I’m great at catching on and going with the flow.

What are your plans for the future?

Travel more around Europe and hopefully shoot more! I have norway and Scotland planned for now - I can’t wait for the creative experiences to come.

What are some of your favorite experiences so far?

My tour in Sweden this summer was amazing - The photographers I met were welcoming and sweet, and the nature around us was absolutely beautiful.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modeling? Don’t compare yourself with other models all the time. I did this a lot when I started modelling - and it only made me more insecure about my abilities and look. You can easily admire someone's beauty without questioning your own. Own it and be confident in that your look is unique.

What do you think of the magazine?

I love it! It’s a great way to get inspired and connect with other people in the business. It inspires me to read about other models and photographers, and drives me to make more amazing art when seeing other peoples creations. It’s an amazing platform, really.
