Interview: Photographer Krzysztof Kamiński (Poland)
Tell us something about yourself. My name is Krzysztof Kamiński, I’m 53 years old and I live in Warsaw, Poland. Besides photography my other passion is cycling (both passive and active). How and when did you get into photography? Years ago I bought my first camera (Sony) and it’s my one and only reflex camera ever since. Capturing images slowly turned from an innocent hobby into a full-time passion. What does photography mean to you?
“Photography and retouch” is a passion. Together they seem a bit like a video game – you drop a photo into PS and eagerly watch every step of transformation until you’ll be able to see a final result. Please briefly describe your photography style for our readers.
Because for me, photography still seems something new and undiscovered, I guess I haven’t developed my style yet and I’m still searching for it. Where do you get inspiration from? First of all, a conversation with a model before photo shoot. It gives me a sense of direction and style that we want to achieve. Apart from that, I search for inspirations on the Internet, daily life and music videos. Think you in advance what you want in the picture?
Because of what I said earlier, I try to cooperate with a model as much as I can. That’s why I think what I want to accomplish is a result of discussion and mutual agreement. Studio, on location or both?
I have my own small studio at the moment, but I try to experiment with different locations (also with natural light). Would you consider yourself a hobbyist or a paid professional?
A hobbyist for whom the word of appreciation from models is the best payment. What has been your most memorable session and why?
From over 800 photo shoots and almost 300 different models it’s difficult to choose the most memorable session. They were all great. What has been the biggest source of inspiration in your work?
The greatest source of inspiration are other photographers. Nikon or Canon? Favorite lens?
Sony, 35mm. What is one piece of advice you would like to offer a new photographer looking to start their own business?
Don’t think of it as a “business”. Start with a hobby. You never know where it’ll take you. What do you think of our new magazine?
Great design, carefully selected photos and a printed version is a big plus. https://www.facebook.com/MarcoFoto-1037844346287627/
