Can you tell us a little about you?

My name is Rikke Søgaard, I am 19 years old and I live in Denmark where I just moved to Copenhagen with my boyfriend. This summer I graduated from Varde Gymnasium (High School), and I am hoping to get accepted to start studying Prehistoric Archaeology at Copenhagen University.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

My height has always been an issue for me, but I try to embrace it and I always work with what I got. Otherwise, I am quite satisfied with my physical appearance.

How did you start modelling?

When I was around 12 years old I got my first comment from a photographer – I had an interesting jawline – as a young kid that was very strange to hear. I got my first “job” around my confirmation as a hair model from my, at that time, local hairdresser. I had a big picture hanging in the window for serval months. From there I did shoots for local design students and then it just went fast.

What do you think of the work as a model?

I love the creativity and intense energy on set. I use it as a way to express myself and to get exciting experiences – and of cause – I enjoy making beautiful photos. It is equally demanding because one has to pay attention to one's body and expression all the time. It can be hard and challenging but the rewarding feeling afterwards is worth every blitz-headache.

What is your beauty regimen?

I do not have a regular routine, but I always remember to use a good moisturising cream and lip balm. There is nothing worse than dry skin and cracked lips in photos. Water is an important thing to remember – always stay hydrated. I tend to either do a whole-face makeup look or nothing, and I try to embrace my makeup free face and features in my everyday life. Otherwise, concealer and mascara is a must.

What are your personal qualities which distinguish you from others?

Regarding the industry, then I feel like I have an all-around perspective. I do retouch and have been doing photography as well, I would like to further develop my skills and excel in retouch. I think this gives me a deeper understanding of what’s going on on set. As a person, I see myself as giving and loyal. If I set my mind to something, I am not giving up or stopping before I have achieved it. I care about the people around me regardless if it is strangers in school or on set or family and friends.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to study Prehistoric Archaeology and become an archaeologist, it has been a dream from my early childhood. I also want to travel the world and learn more about foreign cultures. I want to meet and work with more different people both national and international and keep developing. My plans are not definitive, I want to see where the future takes me.

What are some of your favourite experiences so far?

I have walked for the Danish Royal Ballet in Laugenes Opvisning twice. It is a Danish fashion show for Danish designers, who produce clothing, jewellery and hats in Denmark with traditional handcrafting skills. I have also participated in Miss Denmark 2016 where I came in the top 30 and to the final. It was also a very giving and pleasant experience.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start modelling?

It can be a harsh and demanding industry, so always stay true to yourself. Allow yourself to have boundaries and to keep them. You can e.g. be a great model without posing topless or doing nude – however, if you decide to do so, you should have no shame as long as you are in control, and that it is your own choice by heart. So always listen to yourself no matter how cliché it sounds. If you are starting out before your legal age and are working freelance, always have a legal guardian with you.

What do you think of the magazine?

I see it as a great addition to the many paid-to-publish magazines out there and I like how the magazine is developing. The contents are creative and feature a lot of hardworking people.
